Year 10 English

USC Year 10 English students got their cameras out to put their studies on camera angles and techniques into practise. Students were provided a short synopsis of a story close to every student’s heart: getting homework in on time! They planned out their shots on a story board, working with different angles, and then went out into the field to put together their interpretation on this classic tale. Students were directors, photographers, and actors, choosing angles, guiding actors, and seeking out the perfect shot.
Week of Action
University Senior College Year 10s completed some career workshops during the Week of Action. They looked at allied health careers including occupational therapy and tested their ability to tie their shoelaces with their non-dominant hand. They also did some app programming to create a quick version of whack-a-mole.
Georgia O'Keeffe's artwork as influence

After visiting the Botanic Gardens and using Georgia O'Keeffe's artwork as influence, University Senior College students produced their own innovative artwork focusing on nature.
Andy Warhol and Photography: A Social Media Exhibition

USC Year 10 students enjoyed viewing the 'Andy Warhol and Photography: A Social Media' exhibition earlier this term.

LGBTQIA+ History Walk

USC’s Society and Culture Excursion involved a history walk about the key moments surrounding the history and gaining of rights of LGBTQIA+ people in South Australia.
VEX Robotics Program

University Senior College Year 10 STEM students have engaged in a VEX Robotics program. The program allows students to learn basic coding, mechanics, and robotics to solve several challenges.
Year 10 Art at the Botanic Gardens

The University Senior College Year 10 Art classes enjoyed a recent visit to The Botanic Gardens as part of a Georgia O’Keeffe inspired assignment.
Australian Space Agency

University Senior College Year 10 STEM students took a day trip to the Australian Space Agency at Lot 14.
Scoffed Cooking School

University Senior College Year 10 students attended Scoffed Cooking School in their mentor groups to participate in a MasterChef-style cook off. Students from Elly Pfitzner’s mentor group cooked some delicious Pad Thai with banana fritters for dessert.
Financial Literacy
Financial literacy is underway for some University Senior College Year 10s as they worked collaboratively to create a budget for a lifetime as they discussed the timing and costs of life events.
