The Somerton Man

As part of USC STEM Community Connections and Partnerships, Professor Derek Abbott from The University of Adelaide delivered a talk on The Somerton Man to our students last term.

In his very recent findings that was widely reflected in Australia media, we now know the identity of the man: Somerton Man identified as Carl Webb, Melbourne electrical engineer, born in 1905. Some USC students and USC STEM Coordinator, Zahra visited him this week in the Engineering department to congratulate him and ask further questions. This investigation was a clear example on how Sciences, Engineering, Maths, Art, and History came together to solve one of Australia’s most enduring mysteries!
