Question Time at Parliament
University Senior College Year 12 Politics students attended Question Time at Parliament and observed the Lower House. Questions and debate centred around the ramping crisis, funding for hospitals, and shortages within the police department. A great experience for all.
'The Odd Couple' Book Launch
University Senior College students attended the book launch for the booked titled ‘The Odd Couple’; The Australia-America Relationship and was a conversation between the author Allan Behm and Senator Hanson-Young. The launch focused on active diplomacy, the state of politics in America and what Australia can do in response and in our own self-interest.
Disrupt, Invent, Persist Exhibition
USC Year 11 Politics class attended the Disrupt, Invent, Persist Exhibition currently touring around the country. The exhibition has been released from the national archives and showcases Australian organisations, movements and individuals that contributed to civic change and pushing our country forward. It also highlighted the power of the every say citizen to get involved and be a part of change.
Democracy in Peril
University Senior College Year 12 Politics students and their teacher, Tyson Wood attended a panel at the Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre. The panel was entitled Democracy in Peril with the conversation focused on the current state of democracy globally with specific considerations of the US, Russia, and India.

USC Year 12 students, Jasmine, Lucy, Anjali, Harper, and Jessica attended the Lowitja O'Donoghue Oration presented by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Behind the Lines Exhibition
University Senior College Year 12 Politics excursion went to the Behind the Lines exhibition of political cartoons from 2022.The exhibition is curated by MoAD. The exhibition theme, Off the Planet, reflects on a year where lockdowns ended and borders opened, and we burst out from our living rooms eager to discover what more was out there. While life was starting to return to some sort of normality, Australians still felt uncertainty.
The Governor’s Civics Awards for Schools
The Governor’s Civics Awards for Schools helps to develop student awareness and skills as active and informed citizens in a democratic society.
USC Student's attend Lowitja O'Donoghue Oration
USC Year 11 and 12 Students, Anika, Qezia, Tabitha, Anjali and Azul attended the Lowitja O'Donoghue Oration on Tuesday 31st May. This year’s oration entitled; ‘The Way Forward – Informed by the past’ was delivered by the new Minister for Indigenous Australians, Hon Linda Burney. The Oration honours the influential Aboriginal leader, Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue AC CBE DSG and gives voice to vital issues for our nation’s first people.
