Year 11 Chemistry investigated cross-linking polymers

University Senior College Year 11 Chemistry students investigated the effect of a cross-linking agent on the physical properties of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Investigations of this nature are important as cross-linking polymers have many applications in medicine, new battery technology, and the generation of ‘green’ fuels such as hydrogen.

Week of Action

University Senior College Year 10s completed some career workshops during the Week of Action. They looked at allied health careers including occupational therapy and tested their ability to tie their shoelaces with their non-dominant hand. They also did some app programming to create a quick version of whack-a-mole.

Biggest Morning Tea 2023

On the 31 May University Senior College held its BIGGEST Morning Tea to raise funds for the Cancer Foundation. A team of students and staff chose to support this charity due to the significant impact cancer has on the USC community. A dedicated committee organised the event. They baked goods as well as providing warm refreshments for the staff and students. A raffle and a guessing game also helped to engage participants. It was pleasing to see groups of staff and students having a good time socialising while participating in acts of kindness.

Formal 2023

The 2023 USC Formal was held at the Convention Centre on Friday 12 May. The theme was ‘Masquerade’, and all enjoyed the fabulous red-carpet entrance and decorations. A great time was had by all who attended. Thank you to the Formal committee on a fantastic night.

Fundraising for the victims of Vanuatu's Tropical Cyclones

University Senior College staff members, Kelly Keeling and Nadia Lovett, who both have family and friends living in Vanuatu, created a GoFundMe page and organized various fundraising events, such as a cycle challenge, raffle, and bake sale, to raise funds for the victims of Tropical Cyclones Judy and Kevin in March.

LGBTQIA+ History Walk

USC’s Society and Culture Excursion  involved a history walk about the key moments surrounding the history and gaining of rights of LGBTQIA+ people in South Australia.
