Fundraising for the victims of Vanuatu's Tropical Cyclones
University Senior College staff members, Kelly Keeling and Nadia Lovett, who both have family and friends living in Vanuatu, created a GoFundMe page and organized various fundraising events, such as a cycle challenge, raffle, and bake sale, to raise funds for the victims of Tropical Cyclones Judy and Kevin in March.
They managed to raise approximately $5000 AUD, and during their visit to Vanuatu in April, they met with people from Mele Village to decide how best to allocate the funds. Together, they decided to purchase and install solar lights in the streets and solar panels and charging points for the Mama's Meeting Place to provide light and power during their meetings. The installation of the lights is now complete, while the solar panels and charging points will soon be set up. The Daily Post, a Vanuatu newspaper, featured an interview with Kelly and Nadia about their initiative.
Thank you all who supported the cause.
