Research Project

Students on campus

The Research Project is a SACE requirement undertaken by every student in the state. At USC, students undertake the project across a single semester in Year 11 (generally). For 2023, the results showed excellent achievement for our students. A total of 187 students were enrolled, with an incredible 58% of students achieving in the A band. Additionally, 11% of USC students scored an A+, representing a remarkably high demonstration of self-directed research.

The research topics represented at USC demonstrates a plethora of interests and provided wonderful opportunities for high-level critical thinking and analysis. Topics varied substantially from arranged marriages to the application of AI and its impacts on employment to targeted therapies for oncology patients. One student investigated the impact of cybersecurity awareness on susceptibility to online scams, whilst another focused their efforts on exploring the challenges faced by ethnically diverse students and the associated mental health impacts.

Students at USC continue to choose interesting and unique topics for their research and make great use of the resources and teachers around them to help facilitate greater knowledge acquisition and skills refinement. The photo here comprises USC students who achieved A+ for their Research Project. Congratulations to all.
