UN Youth Australia’s Aotearoa Leadership Tour

Year 12 University Senior College student Anjali has been selected as one of sixteen young Australians to join UN Youth Australia’s Aotearoa Leadership Tour to explore indigenous rights, culture, and reconciliation.

The tour focuses on the rich history and tradition of the Maori people, and the methods used to preserve this culture. Anjali will have the opportunity to spend two weeks travelling through Wellington, Auckland, Waitangi, Rotorua, and Sydney to meet and work with local communities, grassroots organisations, government representatives and NGOs.

Anjali has been involved with UN Youth Australia since 2021, participating in state and national conferences, Model UN competitions, and representing the organisation as a Student Ambassador. She was awarded the Global Citizenship Award in 2022 to recognise her engagement with, and understanding of international issues, human rights, and the role of the United Nations in international peace and security.
