USC Year 11 Earth and Environment students took part in a 3 day field trip to Naracoorte Caves and Mount Gambier.

Students eagerly engaged and experienced learning in cave formation, volcanism, fossil development, soil science and the geological history of South Australia. The students visited the world heritage Naracoorte Caves, the Umpherston Sinkhole, the Blue Lake and hiked up Mount Schank Volcano. Students also had the opportunity to engage in fossil sorting and identification to experience a day in the life of a palaeontologist.

Apart from the learning opportunities, a major highlight for the students were the evening bonfires on both nights. Marshmallows were toasted, ghost stories were shared and new friendships formed
