Biology Osmosis Practical

USC Year 11 Biology students in the osmosis practical, explored the concept of osmosis by investigating the movement of water molecules across a semipermeable membrane. By varying the concentration of solutions surrounding the membrane, students observe changes in the direction and rate of water movement. This hands-on experiment allows students to understand how osmosis drives water from areas of high to low concentration, illustrating key principles of diffusion and membrane permeability. Through careful measurement and analysis, students gain insight into the fundamental processes underlying cellular transport and the importance of maintaining osmotic balance in biological systems. Students were engaged and enjoyed the experience.
