The aim of Homestay is to provide overseas students accommodation with local families in a warm and safe environment.
Families are selected after completing our application forms and are interviewed in their home. If they are approved as homestay hosts for our College, they are required to provide Child Related Employment Screening from the Department of Communities and Social Inclusion.
There are many reasons why families offer to provide homestay accommodation to overseas students:
- To contribute to the growth and development of a student;
- To learn about other places, other cultures and traditions;
- To gain the experience of having a student in their life.
Parents of our International students should be assured that their child is living with a family who will care for their child’s safety and well-being, that they are learning about Australian culture and that they have the opportunity to practice English within a supportive and interested family.
Becoming a Homestay host
One of the great experiences in hosting an international student is to learn about another culture as you get to share your own. Students are excited about learning Australian English and culture. Your warm welcome and care improve their chances for academic success and cultural acceptance while far from home.
Our Host payments will assist you in covering the expenses of hosting a student; such as providing meals and utilities.
If you are interested in becoming a homestay host, please complete the online enquiry form and our Homestay Officer, Zora Wenham will contact you accordingly or fill out the Host Family Application form and return via email to Zora Wenham.
We are confident that you will enjoy the cultural experience of hosting an international student and it is a very rewarding experience for a long lasting relationship established with the student at your home.
