Where does it lead?
Accounting plays an integral part in the successful management of financial affairs. It gives students practical skills in recording, analysing and interpreting financial information. Students acquire knowledge and skills related to the accounting process and they learn how to interpret financial information. This course provides background for students who may wish to study tertiary courses in commerce, marketing or business.
What is in the course?
The content for each semester is divided into a core topic: the environment of accounting and at least two option topics. The option topics in the first semester are: cash recording, including preparation of cash budgets and statements of cash flows as well as analysis and interpretation of financial reports.
The second semester can follow the first semester unit, or can be taken as a stand-alone unit. In the second semester, the core topic is integrated with the option topic of double entry recording, preparation of financial statements and computerised accounting using MYOB software.
