Wellbeing theory, as suggested by Seligman is a construct; and wellbeing, not happiness, is the topic of positive psychology.
Wellbeing has five measurable elements (PERMA) that count toward it:
- Positive emotion (of which happiness and life satisfaction are all aspects)
- Meaning and purpose
No one element defines wellbeing, but each contributes to it. At USC we support wellbeing theory, and our mentoring and counselling programs are designed to complement it.
